The Roaring game

Locked down at home, as New Zealand deals with the Delta variant of Covid 19, actually gave me the perfect opportunity to catch up on a few editing jobs for local clients. One of these, is to promote a new indoor Curling facility in Alexandra.

I'm not 100% sure how curling came to be described as 'The Roaring Game' (I guess a cursory browse on Wikipedia could have solved that) but when putting together the following video from content shot before lockdown, the client gave me some text to work with and pretty much left me to my own devices.

The vibe was to create something that visitors to Central Otago might watch and be compelled to have a crack at. So while my natural inclination was to load the video with exciting shots of experienced curlers sliding down the ice like the Canadians I saw on the Netflix documentary series (Losers), I had to balance it with footage of people spanning the generations enjoying the sport.
